The first semblance of a "selfie" is rooted in the early history of photography. Robert Cornelius, snapped a self-portrait 1839 which is considered one of the earliest photographs of a person. Then, in 1914, 13-year-old Anastasia Nikolaevna took a self-portrait and sent it to a friend with a note attached. So it appears Nikolaevna was the first teenager to take and send a selfie. However, a Hollywood cameraman Lester Wisbrod claims that in 1981 he is the first person to take a selfie. But in September 2001, a group of Australians uploaded the first digital self-portrait. September 13, 2002, the first recorded published use of the term "selfie" was used anonymously on the Australian internet forum (ABC Online) With the interesting facts detailed above and high interest in selfie origination and selfies in general 629EG will create on-site marketing with the historical data available to produce a “History of the Selfie” museum.
